Course Overview:  

Palestinian embroidery is a symbol of Palestinian identity and plays a significant role in the life of Palestinian women. It is a part of the Palestinian folklore that women have inherited and passed down to their daughters and granddaughters throughout the ages.  

Women in Palestine have traditionally used embroidery to decorate their dresses, as well as a wide range of household items like tablecloths, pillows, purses, and more. This art form spread across most regions of Palestine, with patterns varying according to geographic areas. Through these patterns, one could identify the region a woman belonged to, and even the specific village she came from. In this course, we will explore traditional rural embroidery patterns.

What You Will Learn in This Course:  

The Palestinian Embroidery Beginner’s Course focuses on the basics of embroidery, various patterns, and the tools used. Throughout the course, you will learn:

– An introduction to traditional Palestinian rural hand embroidery.

– Knowledge of the tools used in Palestinian embroidery and how to handle them.

– Mastery of the basic skills of Palestinian rural embroidery.

– Understanding of the types of patterns and their names.

– Practical application of traditional lines and motifs.

– How to apply basic patterns such as (the wheat stalk, the star, the feather, the cypress tree).

– Wheat Stalk Pattern (Bracelet).  

– Star Pattern (Keychain).  

– Star and Feather Pattern (Purse).  

– Cypress Tree Pattern (Tissue Box Cover).
